Richard Pettifer - Chair
I was elected a Trustee of the Village Hall in 2015 and immediately elected chairman of the Committee. Along with my wife, Maureen, I have been a resident of Sherborne St John for 18yrs and soon after moving to the village took on the role of chairing a small sub-committee of the Village Hall tasked with raising the major grant funding required to build the present Hall as a replacement for the original 1960s second hand wooden building which had reached the end of its useful life.
As a career meteorologist, I served almost 30 years in the Met Office, specialising in instruments and measurements, before leaving to become the Managing Director of a company manufacturing and supplying meteorological measurement systems and industrial process control equipment. I then started my own consultancy company and became the Executive Director of the Royal Meteorological Society, a national charity with international reach. I still work today as a (part time) meteorological consultant.
My interests revolve around cricket, golf and gardening. I was made MBE in 2007 for services to meteorology and the community.
Brian Mitchinson - Treasurer
I spent 20 years in the Royal Air Force as an Engineering Officer, rising to the rank of Squadron Leader before leaving to work for a large American defence contractor. As Programmes Director, I managed large programmes to deliver radar and communications systems to the Ministry of Defence and other armed services across Europe.
I now run my own business as a Lettings and Estate Agent in Reading, where I employ a small team to help people sell or let their properties, and provide a Guaranteed Rent service to provide peace of mind to landlords. Although this is quite a change from my previous employment, I enjoy the freedom of being my own boss and making a difference to people's lives.
I have two grown-up children who have "fled the nest" and now live with my wife and young son in Sherborne St John, and try to help in the community through my role as Treasurer of the Village Hall Management Committee.
Shawna Campbell - Bookings Secretary
Originally from Canada, I have lived in the UK for 19 years and along with my husband have been a resident of Sherborne St John for 4 years. I have been married to Ed for 43 years this July and when not busy taking bookings for the hall, I am busy raising finches, canaries and quails, along with reading and baking.
As an active Grandma to 9 grandchildren who keep me busy with the occasional babysitting duties, I also find the time to be a member of the Village Hall Events team, and can be regularly seen serving teas and coffees at many events, including the over 60's club.
I enjoy living in Sherborne St John and have met some wonderful people who have become great friends.
Stephanie Emo - Minutes Secretary
Debra Morgan - Trustee and Facilities
I have lived in the village for over 17 years. I have assisted with many events over this time and have been a member of the Village Hall Committee for the last 1.5 years. Previously I was a Facilities Manager at AA in Basingstoke for over 20 years and am now retired.
In addition to participating on the committee, I have taken on responsibility for Health & Safety and Compliance.
Hilary Mills - Trustee
I have lived in Sherborne St John for the last 18 years with my husband and son. I run my own company making and distributing cosmetic products and providing consultancy services.
Over the years I have served as a Governor at SSJ Village school and have a keen interest in local issues. As an active member of the village community, I am involved with the Village Hall Marketing and Events team along with serving on the Village Hall Committee.
Ruth Davies - Trustee
I moved to Sherborne St John last summer along with my husband and daughter. We chose a village because we wanted to be involved in the community and I have been welcomed into the committee for the Village Hall and been actively involved in getting our new website up and running and working with the team to provide new marketing for the Hall.
Over many years I have worked in the charitable and voluntary sector, providing business management, marketing and communication to many organisations. I am a dedicated School Governor and recently have joined the Governor Training Team for Hampshire County Council.
Tracey Jeram - Trustee
Paul Temple - Trustee
I am Paul Temple. I have lived in Bourne Field for 36 years and my 3 children all attended the local school.
I co-founded and owned 3 service businesses, all now based in Ringwood, from which I retired 10 years ago. The businesses still operate successfully and one has a Royal Warrant.
I have been involved with Basingstoke Gymnastic Club for 35 years, firstly as a parent but then as a coach, Chief Coach, Director & Chairman & am still an active Trustee. BGC is the biggest sports club in Basingstoke and has over 2000 members. In addition I am a member of Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club and have just finished a year as Club President.
I have many other interests, all of which keep me very busy, but am very happy to be part of the Village Hall Committee and make a small contribution to the local community.
